One of the joys of running your own business is being able to build it around the values that matter most to you. For me, one of those values is celebrating local.
I moved to the Bellarine in 2017 and our family settled in North Bellarine in 2021. It’s hard not to be proud of this place. From natural treasures like The Dell and Lake Lorne, cared for by Wadawurrung Traditional Owners for countless generations, to award-winning wineries, welcoming cafés, and incredible local makers and growers, there is so much to celebrate here.
One thing I look forward to every month is my copy of the Springdale Messenger.
I love reading stories about local people doing interesting things in our community.
This month, an article by Dr David Smith FRSA stopped me in my tracks. (Pun intended)
David had created a video of one of my favourite songs, Morningtown Ride by The Seekers, featuring the Bellarine Community Singers alongside footage of our beloved steam locomotive, 3620. As soon as I watched it, I picked up the phone.
Not only did I want to thank David for creating something so special, but I also wanted to invite him and his wife aboard The Q Train. I’m very much looking forward to meeting them in person.
I’ve embedded the video on the left. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to make a cup of tea (local, of course), sit back, and enjoy it.
How lucky are we that this is home?
